I was at a thrift store keeping my eyes open for something I could upcycle, or use as fabric, when I found this cute flowered table cloth that was very large, had a cute flowery print, and was in excellent condition. I didn’t see any stains, and it was a nice thick fabric that I thought would make a nice skirt. I had seen a pattern for a skirt with pockets on the blog so-sew-easy that I had been wanting to try. I mean, who doesn’t love pockets! So I downloaded the pattern, printed out all the pieces, and taped them together.
I then cut out the pattern pieces from the tablecloth. Here is the link to the skirt pattern and video tutorial. Show Some Flare Skirt Pattern . It is a fairly simple pattern and the video tutorial takes you through the process step by step. The only thing she does not explain is how to insert a zipper. If you are not sure how to do a zipper there is a great free class on Craftsy called, Mastering Zipper Techniques by Sunni Standing.
I love my finished skirt! It is soft, casual, and comfortable. The table cloth only cost $4.47 and the pattern was $4.99. I still have at least a yard of fabric remaining, and I really like this skirt pattern. I plan to use it again in the future. Here is my finished skirt!
